"Spin The Current"
Japanese paper, sumi, gohun

I added to and revised a work created in 2015, which was painted on a single sheet of 7 x 9 shaku (about 3 x 2 m) handmade Kumohadapaper by Heizaburo Iwano Paper Mill.

When I opened the work, which had been sitting at my parents' house for a long time, I found that it was rough and had many unnecessary lines, and I wanted to make changes to it.

As I repeatedly erased the lines by pouring water and added lines of gofun with a brush, the world I wanted to express emerged in a more three-dimensional way.

The process of my work, in which organic white lines intertwine and take shape against an ink-colored background, overlaps with the process of making washi paper, which is created by the intertwining of plant fibers in a stream of water.

I am happy that many people resonate with the world and sense of comfort that I feel.
I would be happy if you could actually experience it in front of my work.
